Potty Training Tips for Girls

It might be true that potty training girls is faster than it is for boys, but parents shouldn't take that as their cue to lessen the effort they put into the process. There are definitely things you can do when you potty train a girl to make the transition from diaper to toilet a less stressful one, both for you and your daughter.

Best Tips to Toilet Train Girls

Each child is different, especially when it comes to toilet training. But for starters, try these potty training tips for girls (If you have a boy, check out potty training tips for boys) :

  1. Perhaps the most important tip of all when potty training a girl is to properly model for your daughter how to wipe from front to back - not back to front as most women do! This helps prevent the spread of bacteria.
  2. If this proves difficult, just teach her to pat herself dry after she urinates.
  3. Help give your daughter easy access to the potty by having her wear clothing that allows her to do so. Dresses and skirts are the best option, as are any loose-fitting clothes and/or underwear.
  4. Watch our for bladder infections, as they are fairly common when toilet training girls. If you notice your daughter is experiencing abdominal pain, frequent and/or painful urination, contact your physician.

Once your daughter is ready to begin learning, give her the best chance by following a technique that has withstood the test of time. My Potty Training Basics Guide will have her trained in only 3 days - so you can get back to life!
